Trinity Mirror has announced today that the Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror are to merge and move to a seven day publishing model, with former The People Editor Lloyd Embley appointed Editor of both papers with immediate effect.

Two new senior editorial roles have been created with an Editor for the Daily Mirror (weekdays) and a Weekend Editor of the Mirror to be announced imminently. Current Editor of the Daily Mirror Richard Wallace, and the Sunday Mirror, Tina Weaver, have been made redundant and leave the company with immediate effect.
